Occasionally, employers might use these tests as well. Aptitude tests differ from IQ tests because though they are testing ability, they are testing specific abilities in specific areas. According to Psychometric Success, there are over 5, different aptitude tests on the market. Some test only one specific skill set and some test a variety.
Aptitude tests look for strengths in numbers, verbal strengths, mechanics and other areas. These tests are often timed, and used for a more specific purpose, like job placement or college admission. Aptitude and Intelligence testing have come under scrutiny. Aptitude tests like the SAT require students to answer questions that some believe to be culturally biased or biased by income. Some of them are used to examine the intelligence of a person, while some are for testing the whole mental ability of a person.
These entire tests have different types of questions, they are commonly known as IQ, EQ, Aptitude tests. Now we take a look on the difference between all of them. Aptitude generally refers to a test, which may be physical, mental or both.
It includes different type of questions and tasks. It is generally a test containing many collective characteristics which are used to check the mental as well as physical ability of a person.
Intelligence may be defined in many ways including communication, abstracting, planning. Aptitude is different from interest as one may have an intense interest in football but not enough aptitude to succeed in a career as a footballer.
Interest is the preference for a particular activity while aptitude is the potential to perform that activity. Two individuals that achieve the same IQ score may have widely different aptitude test profiles. Aptitude tests are available in two forms: independent specialised aptitude tests and multiple generalised aptitude tests.
Multiple Aptitude Tests exist in the form of test batteries, which measure aptitude in several separate but homogeneous areas. Among these, DAT is most commonly used in educational settings.
