Be careful in Homosassa at night it is very dangerous there is a huge meth problem there we owned a house in Homosassa on 10 acres and caught people shooting up meth in our shed and we found syringes on the road. Crackers is a much better restaurant than Pecks I lived in crystal river for 4 yrs and made the mistake and sold my house and moved to Homosassa I lived in Homosassa for 4 months had a beautiful house with pool and 10 acres and found needles out on the road Homosassa has a huge Meth problem I would watch being out at night in Homosassa.

Not everyone so a few that are around this area w e keep a close eye on and try to discourage others from moving on by st a Ying a tight community and knowing your neighbors at only the ones on your street..

The Homosassa River has experienced significant changes in ecology over the past hundred years, resulting from both natural changes and human activity.
Though water clarity remains high in the upper portion of the river, it has declined greatly in the lower portion. Currently, increased levels of nitrogen have been a cause for concern, with sources including those from excess fertilizer use, septic systems and livestock waste.
The island is home to a troupe of very active spider monkeys. And when it comes to boating and paddling, there may be no better place than Homosassa. The nearby Halls River zig-zags through marsh and estuary with many incredible fishing spots along the way. Not to mention an abundance of wildlife that call this ecosystem home.
Located a few miles south of Homosassa, this river system is tucked away in the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge. Because of this 31, forested refuge, few houses are located on the river, allowing guests to experience the clear water and gentle current the same way for hundreds of years.
